The McIntosh MA8950 combines a 200-watt-per-channel solid-state amplifier with extensive analog and digital source control. McIntosh Autoformers deliver the rated power into 2-, 4-, or 8-ohm loudspeakers, allowing the amplifier section to maintain its specified output across those loads.

Fifteen analog and digital inputs include moving-coil and moving-magnet phono connections and the DA2 Digital Audio Module. A five-band analog equalizer, balanced and unbalanced outputs, a subwoofer output, and Home Theater PassThru give the MA8950 a useful role in both self-contained and expanded systems.

Three Important Features

  • Load-independent rated output: Autoformers provide 200 watts per channel into 2-, 4-, or 8-ohm loudspeakers.
  • DA2 digital module: Seven digital inputs support files through 24-bit/192kHz and DSD512.
  • Flexible analog control: Dual phono inputs, five-band equalization, and multiple outputs support system tailoring.

  • Total harmonic distortion: 0.005%.
