MT5 Precision Turntable

on-demo

A complete McIntosh turntable with a magnetically suspended, illuminated platter and a factory-fitted Sumiko cartridge, set up and ready to play.

The MT5 is McIntosh's mid-range turntable package: platter, motor drive, tonearm and cartridge, all chosen and adjusted to work together. Its silicon acrylic platter floats on a magnetically suspended ceramic bearing, which cuts friction and keeps motor and bearing noise away from the record. It's lit from below in McIntosh's signature style. A DC motor with servo speed control plays 33⅓, 45 and 78 rpm, with fine speed adjustment. The tonearm has a dural-aluminum tube, magnetic sapphire and ceramic bearings, and magnetic anti-skate. It is adjustable for VTA, anti-skate and azimuth. McIntosh sets tracking force, anti-skate, overhang and arm height at the factory, so setup at home is minimal.

The MT5 comes with a Sumiko Amethyst moving magnet cartridge (2.5 mV), so it works straight into the MM phono input of any McIntosh preamplifier, integrated amplifier or phono stage. Hi-Fi World and What Hi-Fi? have both reviewed it favorably. It suits someone building or completing a McIntosh system who wants a turntable that looks the part and doesn't need a lot of setup. The 78 rpm speed also makes it useful for collectors. The cartridge can be upgraded later; ask us about options that suit the arm.
