The C55 is a two-channel solid-state preamplifier designed for systems that bring analog sources, digital playback, and low-frequency integration together in one control component. Sixteen total inputs—nine analog and seven digital—provide room for a substantial source collection.
The included DA2 Digital Audio Module supports files through 24-bit/192kHz and DSD512. Two phono inputs can each be configured for moving-coil or moving-magnet cartridges, allowing the C55 to support two turntables or tonearms without requiring a separate phono preamplifier.
An eight-band analog equalizer, adjustable output filtering, a dedicated subwoofer output, and three variable output sets provide useful tools for fitting the preamplifier to the system and room.

The C55 is the practical answer when the system has a little of everything and you want one preamplifier to keep it organized. It has the digital module, two configurable phono inputs, three output sets, subwoofer control, and an eight-band analog equalizer—but the point is not to collect features. The point is to make a complicated system feel simple. I would choose it over the C22 when solid-state quiet and broad control matter most, and over the C2800 when tubes are not part of the reason you are buying the preamplifier.
