C55 Preamplifier

on-demo
in-stock

The McIntosh C55 is a solid-state preamplifier built for systems that combine analog sources, digital playback, and flexible low-frequency integration. Sixteen total inputs and three variable output sets provide the connection capacity for a substantial two-channel system without separating digital and analog control into different components.

The included DA2 Digital Audio Module supports files through 24-bit/192kHz and DSD512, while two configurable phono inputs accommodate moving-coil or moving-magnet cartridges. An eight-band analog equalizer, adjustable output filtering, and a dedicated subwoofer output provide useful tools for tailoring the C55 to the room and the rest of the system.

Three Important Features

  • Sixteen-source capacity: Nine analog and seven digital inputs support a wide range of source components.
  • Flexible phono section: Two inputs can each be configured for moving-coil or moving-magnet cartridges.
  • System-shaping controls: An eight-band analog equalizer, adjustable filtering, and a subwoofer output support system integration.

Three Important Specifications

  • Architecture: Solid-state, two-channel preamplifier.
  • Total harmonic distortion: 0.005%.
  • Frequency response: +0/-0.5dB from 20Hz to 20kHz; +0/-3dB from 15Hz to 100kHz.
