The XRT2.1K is a ported four-way design. Six 8-inch nanocarbon fiber/Nomex honeycomb woofers and two 6.5-inch low-frequency midranges sit in a bass cabinet of brushed and black aluminum with seven coats of piano black, while a line array of 28 two-inch and 45 three-quarter-inch aluminum-magnesium domes handles the midrange and treble. The array hangs from the cabinet on steel spiders, and the whole speaker stands on a machined aluminum and glass base with four adjustable feet. The crossover uses low-loss capacitors and high-current inductors chosen for linearity at high power.

A line array spreads sound evenly from front to back: listeners close to the speaker are not overwhelmed, and those farther away lose little level, so the stereo image holds up across a row of seats. TONE Audio's reviewer heard big dynamic swings, a solid bass foundation and convincing height, with low-level detail intact. This is a speaker for a large, dedicated room and for powerful amplification; separate Solid Cinch terminals for the mid/high, low and subwoofer sections allow tri-amping or tri-wiring.
