The f113v2 puts a proprietary 13.5-inch JL Audio driver and a 3,000-watt switching amplifier, with a large toroidal transformer and a patented control circuit, into a sealed cabinet about 19 inches on a side. As on every Fathom, JL's DSP runs D.A.R.O., 18-band Digital Automatic Room Optimization, with the included calibration microphone, and the front-mounted controls add E.L.F. trim, a 12 or 24 dB/octave low-pass filter and continuous phase.

Reviewers describe deep, forceful, physical bass that still blends with the main speakers rather than overwhelming them, felt as much as heard. It reaches 18 Hz at −3 dB and has the output for large rooms and serious home theaters; JL notes that a pair of f113v2s will satisfy the most demanding theater or studio. D.A.R.O. smooths the room's worst bass peaks at the listening seat, and we can help plan placement.
