The f112v2 uses a proprietary 12-inch JL Audio driver in a sealed cabinet about 18 inches tall, powered by an 1,800-watt switching amplifier with a large toroidal transformer and a patented control circuit. JL's onboard DSP runs D.A.R.O., 18-band Digital Automatic Room Optimization, with the included calibration microphone. Front controls cover E.L.F. trim, 12 or 24 dB/octave low-pass filtering, phase and polarity.

With a −3 dB point of 19 Hz, the f112v2 reaches the true bottom octave of organ, synth and film soundtracks, and D.A.R.O. smooths the room's bass peaks at the listening seat so that depth stays clean and even. It suits medium rooms and full-range systems in larger ones, and two can be linked by XLR as master and slave for smoother, deeper bass across a room. Reviewers of the original f112 praised its output, control and texture with drums, organ and bass guitar.
