The story
The Odin 2 Loudspeaker Cable is constructed from twenty-six silver-plated, solid-core 20 AWG conductors of 99.999999% oxygen-free copper. Each is wound in Dual Mono-Filament and sealed in a tube of class 1.003 extruded FEP, the purest grade Nordost uses, and the conductors are laid flat at a mechanically tuned spacing and cut to a mechanically tuned length. Nordost says the layout minimizes skin effect and damping; the figures are 8.0 pF/ft, 0.125 µH/ft and a velocity of propagation of 98%.
Marc Mickelson of The Audio Beat, reviewing the Odin 2 range in 2016, judged it sonically exceptional and unmatched, with the caveat that its full benefit depends on using it throughout the system. Jacob Heilbrunn in The Absolute Sound found it a major step past the original Odin in resolution, noise floor and transient speed. In our rooms it is the cable that disappears most completely, which is the whole point.
Terminations are Nordost's HOLO:PLUG gold-plated 8.5 mm spade or gold-plated low-mass Z-plug banana, chosen separately for each end. Pairs are built to order in lengths from 1 m to 4 m in half-metre steps, with longer runs on request. Nordost warrants Odin 2 for the lifetime of the original purchaser.
