The story
Odin Gold is Nordost's statement cable and the top of its range. The loudspeaker cable carries twenty-eight 20 AWG conductors of 99.999999% oxygen-free copper, solid core and plated in gold rather than silver, each in Dual Mono-Filament inside class 1.003 extruded FEP at a mechanically tuned spacing. Capacitance is 8.0 pF/ft, inductance 0.125 µH/ft and the velocity of propagation 98%.
What Nordost says distinguishes Odin Gold from Odin 2 is the termination. The twenty-eight conductors transition after the breakout to eight 14 AWG gold-plated conductors, a multi-stage process that Nordost says reduces conductor conversion points, eliminates overcrowding at the connector and brings the mass of conductor and connector close to matched, lowering the impedance a termination normally adds. The standard breakout is 7 in; 14 in breakouts at one or both ends are quoted separately.
Pairs are built to order with Odin Gold HOLO:PLUG gold-plated 8.5 mm spades or low-mass Z-plug bananas at each end, in lengths from 1.5 m to 4 m in half-metre steps; a single cable is available at half price. Nordost requires a loudspeaker cable configuration form for every Odin Gold order, which we complete with you.
