Heimdall 3 Speaker Cable

Nordost · Norse 3 Series

The entry point to Nordost's new Norse 3 range: a flat, silver-plated solid-core speaker cable built in the USA and terminated to your system.

Price is for a factory-terminated pair.

The Heimdall 3 Speaker Cable opens Nordost's third-generation Norse range. Each cable in the pair carries 18 solid-core 22 AWG conductors of 99.99999% oxygen-free copper, each plated with silver and suspended in Nordost's Micro Mono-Filament construction: a thread of FEP spirals around every conductor so the wire rests mostly on air inside its extruded FEP jacket. Terminations are ultrasonically welded rather than crimped or soldered, in Nordost's Massachusetts factory.

The result is the sound Nordost's flat cables are known for: very fast, open and even-handed, with low loss over long runs. Heimdall 3 suits revealing systems from brands like the ones we carry at Pearl Audio. Choose Z-plug bananas or spades independently for the amplifier and speaker ends; both are gold-plated. If your speakers need large (8.5 mm) or small (5 mm) spades, or your room needs an in-between or longer length, we can order it.

Key technologies

  • Micro Mono-Filament construction. An FEP thread wound around each conductor creates a virtual air dielectric inside the extruded jacket.
  • Silver-plated solid core. 18 × 22 AWG conductors of 99.99999% OFC, each solid core to avoid strand interaction.
  • Ultrasonic welding. Terminations are welded to the conductors for a consistent, low-loss joint.
  • Flat geometry. Side-by-side conductor spacing is mechanically tuned, keeps inductance low and makes the cable easy to run under rugs or along baseboards.
  • Made in the USA. Nordost cables are built and terminated at the factory in Holliston, Massachusetts.

Choosing length and terminations

  • Measure along the path the cable will actually take — down the rack, along the wall, up to the speaker terminals — not the straight line, and round up. A little slack protects the terminations.
  • Both cables in the pair are the same length. Keeping left and right equal is the normal practice, even if one speaker is closer.
  • Z-plug bananas are the quick, secure choice for most binding posts; spades suit amplifiers with large posts you can torque down. You can mix: for example, spades at the amplifier and bananas at the speakers.
  • Between sizes, or need more than 7 m? Nordost builds custom lengths to order — call us.
  • Large 8.5 mm and small 5 mm spades are available on request at no change in price.

Where it sits in the range

Norse 3 is the middle of Nordost's range, above the Leif series and below the reference lines.

  • Heimdall 3 (this model): the entry point to Norse 3
  • Frey 3: 22 × 22 AWG conductors — by order
  • Tyr 3: the top of Norse 3 — by order
  • Heimdall 3 Interconnect: the matching analog interconnect

We stock or demo select Nordost lines and can order anything in the catalog, from Leif to Odin.
