The story
The Lumina II Amator uses the same 1.1-inch DAD tweeter, 5.9-inch paper-cone midwoofer and cabinet size as Lumina II. The crossover is redesigned with ideas from the Amati G5 and Guarneri G5 and moves up to 2,600 Hz, 800 Hz higher than Lumina II, so the midwoofer covers more of the vocal range. New front panels use high-gloss lacquered veneer with a 45-degree grain.
What Hi-Fi gave it four stars for a warm, full-bodied sound with expressive, intimate vocals and a reasonably wide stage. They found it less snappy and taut than the most rhythmic rivals, so it suits relaxed listening more than driving rock. It works best in a small room; add a Gravis I for deeper bass. Use a good 30 to 150 W amplifier.
