The story

The DB3D makes the DB Series fit rooms where a larger subwoofer would dominate. Two 200 mm Aerofoil cone drivers in a balanced back-to-back arrangement cancel each other's reaction forces, and a 1,000-watt Class D amplifier with a digital preamplifier and Dynamic EQ drives them to the same 10 Hz low-frequency limit as its bigger siblings, with less absolute output.

Setup is from the Bowers & Wilkins DB Subwoofers app over Bluetooth LE, including a room measurement with your phone and Room EQ correction, so the DB3D can be tucked into a corner or beside a bookshelf and still sound right. Balanced XLR and RCA inputs, 12 V triggers and RS-232 are standard. It pairs especially well with 600 Series and 700 Series speakers, and with 805 D4 stand-mounts in smaller rooms.

Key technologies

  • Aerofoil cone. Variable-thickness cone technology from the 800 Series Diamond bass units.
  • Balanced opposed drivers. Back-to-back drivers cancel reaction forces so the small cabinet stays inert.
  • Dynamic EQ. Level-dependent equalisation keeps bass extended at low volume and clean at high volume.
  • App setup with Room EQ. Phone-based room measurement and correction, plus crossover, phase and level control.

Finishes

  • Stealth Black cabinet with black grille
  • Warm White cabinet with grey grille

All finishes are the same price. Choose the finish above; if you would like to see samples, ask us for a listening appointment.
