The story
The DB1D takes the bass-engineering ideas of the 800 Series Diamond and puts them in a dedicated subwoofer. Two 300 mm Aerofoil cone drivers sit back to back in a balanced configuration, so the reaction forces of one cancel the other and the cabinet stays still while the cones do the work. Each driver has its own 1,000-watt Class D amplifier stage, and the whole system runs from a digital preamplifier with Dynamic EQ that keeps the bass tight and extended whatever the volume.
Setup is done from the Bowers & Wilkins DB Subwoofers app over Bluetooth LE. It walks you through placement, measures the room with your phone, applies Room EQ and lets you set crossover, phase and level from the listening seat. Balanced XLR and RCA inputs, 12 V triggers and RS-232 make the DB1D at home in a stereo system or a custom-installed theater. For large rooms or systems built around 800 Series speakers, this is the subwoofer we recommend.
