The story
Frey 3 adds four conductors to the Heimdall 3 recipe. Each cable carries twenty-two solid-core 22 AWG conductors of silver-plated 99.99999% oxygen-free copper, each suspended in Nordost's Micro Mono-Filament construction inside an extruded FEP jacket. Inductance falls to 0.67 µH/ft and the velocity of propagation rises to 96%, and the extra copper gives the cable more grip on a power amplifier's output.
Like the rest of Norse 3, Frey 3 is terminated by ultrasonic welding, a solder-free process that Nordost says gives a consistent, high-integrity bond between conductor and connector. Conductor lengths are mechanically tuned, and the gold-plated spade and Z-plug banana connectors sit in a purpose-built housing.
In the Nordost range Frey 3 is the point where a serious floorstander and power amplifier start to show what the flat geometry can do. Pairs are built to order with bananas or 6.5 mm spades chosen separately for each end; 8.5 mm and 5 mm spades and lengths beyond 7 m are available on request.
