The story
Digital data transfer demands precise impedance matching in both cable and connectors, and the Heimdall 2 Digital Cable is built to that standard. The 75 Ω S/PDIF version is a coaxial design with a single 20 AWG conductor; the 110 Ω AES/EBU version is twin-axial with two. Both use silver-plated 99.99999% oxygen-free copper, solid core, held in Nordost's Dual Mono-Filament construction inside extruded FEP, with mechanically tuned spacing and length.
Nordost quotes 15.0 pF/ft for the coaxial cable and 10.7 pF/ft for the balanced one, 97% shield coverage and a velocity of propagation of 88% for both. The 75 Ω cable is terminated with gold-plated true 75 Ω Neutrik BNCs and ships with gold-plated BNC-to-RCA adapters, so it fits either connector; the 110 Ω cable has gold-plated Neutrik XLRs.
Heimdall 2 is a sensible digital link between a transport or streamer and a DAC such as the dCS Lina or a MOON or McIntosh converter. Choose the type and a length from 1 m to 4 m in the selector; other lengths are available to order.
