The story
The Tyr 3 Interconnect carries eight solid-core 24 AWG conductors of silver-plated 99.99999% oxygen-free copper, arranged as four twisted pairs. Each pair is shielded on its own before the bundle is wrapped in a second braided shield, for 97% overall coverage. Each conductor is held in Nordost's Dual Mono-Filament construction, two FEP threads that keep the copper off the extruded FEP wall, which Nordost says raises signal speed and damps the conductor mechanically.
Norse 3 interconnects keep Nordost's filter-less philosophy: the twisted-pair layout gives each channel a controlled, noise-negating path and the cable is meant to add nothing. With four pairs the inductance falls to 0.09 µH/ft, and Tyr 3 is the Norse 3 interconnect for reference-level separates, a step below Valhalla 2 in Nordost's range.
Interconnects are sold as a pair, terminated with gold-plated Nordost Neutrik Profi RCA plugs or Neutrik XLRs, with lengths from 0.6 m to 3.5 m in half-metre steps in the selector and longer runs to order. All conductor lengths are mechanically tuned.
