The LCR80 pairs two 6-inch McIntosh LD/HP woofers with two 2-inch inverted titanium-dome midranges and a three-quarter-inch titanium-dome tweeter in a sealed cabinet. The high-frequency array sits on a machined alloy plate that rotates, so it can be set correctly whether the speaker lies horizontally or stands vertically. Hardware for horizontal, vertical and shelf mounting is included, and the terminals are McIntosh Solid Cinch binding posts.

Its flexibility makes it a good fit for home theaters built around a screen, or for on-wall stereo where floorstanders won't fit. Its response starts at 80 Hz, so plan on a subwoofer such as the McIntosh PS1K and use bass management. McIntosh recommends 75 to 300 W, and at 81 dB sensitivity it benefits from a capable amplifier.
