The story
The X350.8 is the largest and most powerful stereo amplifier in the Pass Labs line. It carries 72 power MOSFETs per channel, the same complement as the X600.8 and XA200.8 monos, in the 11-inch-tall .8 chassis, and is rated at 350 W per channel into 8 Ω with a damping factor of 150. The supply draws 600 W at idle. As with the other Class AB .8 amplifiers, a substantial Class A bias handles the first watts before the output stage moves into AB.
Positive Feedback's Pete Davey, returning to the X350.8 after months with Class D amplifiers, found more bass grip, dynamic control and midrange texture with his ribbon loudspeakers, at the cost of heat and efficiency; the magazine had given the X350.8 a Writers' Choice award in 2016. Pass positions it for listeners who want the ease of its sound with extra reserve: more slam, control and headroom without a hard or mechanical presentation.
The X350.8 is the stereo amplifier for large rooms and loudspeakers that benefit from firm control. The XP-22 or XP-32 partner it. For the same device count in mono form, the X600.8 delivers 600 W per channel.
