The story
Every other part of a Sondek mounts to the plinth: the steel top plate, the suspension, the motor and the base board all hang from this hardwood frame. Linn makes it from kiln-dried hardwood in oak, cherry, walnut, rosenut and black ash, in the smooth style or the fluted style of the original 1973 deck, and the same plinth serves the Majik, Selekt and Klimax LP12. As a separate part it is the way to give an older deck a new finish, replace a damaged frame, or begin a custom build around a deck-only Sondek.
Special finishes are available to order: any of the woods in high gloss, Piano Black, Alpine White, or a custom color matched to any RAL shade in gloss, satin or metallic. If the plinth itself is to be a performance upgrade rather than a cosmetic one, Linn's Bedrok, made of densified beech, is the alternative. Fitting a plinth means rebuilding the deck, which we do in our workshop.
Fluted, high-gloss and special finishes carry a surcharge over the smooth plinth shown.

Every Sondek LP12 shares the same plinth, top plate, suspension and platter, so any deck can be upgraded in steps. Linn sells the parts individually; this is the current upgrade path in order of price.
The Bedrok plinth is the performance alternative.
