The 705 S3 lifts its Carbon Dome tweeter out of the cabinet and into a Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top housing milled from aluminum, decoupled from the box below and evolved from the latest 800 Series Diamond. Freeing the tweeter from the baffle helps imaging. Below it, a 6.5-inch Continuum Cone bass/midrange sits in a pod set into a subtly curved baffle.
Reviewers praise its detail, its wide, enveloping soundstage and bass that is full and well controlled for its size; What Hi-Fi? also found it a touch cool, and it comes alive when played with some level or paired with a warmer amplifier. At 88 dB and a 3.7 Ω minimum it works with a good integrated in B&W's 30 to 120 W range. It suits small-to-medium rooms; mount it on solid stands and add a subwoofer for films or large spaces.
The grille is black as standard; Satin White can also be ordered with a grey grille.
