The story

The Odin 2 75 Ω cable consists of a single coaxial 14 AWG conductor of silver-plated 99.999999% oxygen-free copper, solid core; the balanced 110 Ω cable places two 18 AWG conductors in a twin-axial design. Both are built in Dual Mono-Filament inside class 1.003 extruded FEP and protected by TSC technology, which Nordost describes as a virtual solid shield against EMI and RFI, for 100% coverage. Capacitance is 15.3 pF/ft for the 75 Ω cable and 10.5 pF/ft for the 110 Ω, and the velocity of propagation is 90%.

The 75 Ω cable is terminated with gold-plated HOLO:PLUG BNCs and ships with a gold-plated BNC-to-RCA adapter; the 110 Ω cable has gold-plated HOLO:PLUG XLRs. A 50 Ω coaxial version with a single 18 AWG conductor and gold-plated BNCs covers the clock and data connections some components use.

In a dCS Vivaldi or Varèse system the Odin 2 digital cable handles the AES, S/PDIF and word-clock runs between transport, upsampler, clock and DAC. Choose the type and a length of 1.25 m, 2.5 m or 5 m in the selector; other lengths are available to order.

Key technologies

  • Dual Mono-Filament. Two FEP filaments wound around each conductor hold it in a virtual air dielectric inside its extruded FEP tube, cutting insulation contact by about 85%.
  • TSC shielding. Nordost's Total Signal Control: each conductor is individually shielded for 100% coverage, a virtual solid shield against EMI, RFI and crosstalk.
  • True impedance. 75 Ω coaxial, 110 Ω twin-axial or 50 Ω coaxial geometry, matched by true-impedance HOLO:PLUG connectors.
  • Mechanically tuned. Conductor lay, spacing and length are set to Nordost's formula for the geometry.
  • Adapter included. The 75 Ω version ships with a gold-plated BNC-to-RCA adapter.
