The story
The Heimdall 2 Ethernet Cable is built for the link between a router or switch and a streamer, server or network DAC. Its eight 23 AWG solid-core copper conductors form four twisted pairs, each individually shielded and then wrapped in a fully shielded dual braid, which Nordost says all but eliminates the crosstalk and electromagnetic interference that afflict ordinary network cable.
Each conductor is cut to a mechanically tuned length so that all signals arrive together, a Nordost practice that the company says reduces timing error. The cable is rated for 1000 MHz and transmission speeds to 40 Gbit/s, well beyond what any audio stream needs, and is terminated with ruggedized, shielded 8P8C/RJ45 plugs.
In a Pearl Audio system it typically runs from a Nordost QNET switch to a MOON, dCS or Aurender streamer. Choose a length from 1 m to 7 m in the selector; longer runs and right-angle connectors are available to order.
