The story

The Planar 10 is Rega's statement of its low-mass approach short of the Naia. Its skeletal plinth is a Tancast 8 foam core between HPL skins, 30 percent lighter than the RP10, and it was the first production turntable to use ceramic bracing: an aluminum-oxide top brace and a phenolic bottom brace that lock the tonearm mount to the main bearing. The platter is ceramic oxide, compressed, fired and diamond cut, with a modified coupling to the aluminum sub-platter.

The RB3000 arm is hand built with bearings selected for an interference fit with their paired spindle, preloaded to less than a thousandth of a millimetre, in a tube made without adhesive. The 24 V synchronous motor mounts from below and is hand tuned to the P10 power supply, a full-width unit with a DSP generator on a high-stability crystal, electronic speed change, fine speed adjustment and anti-vibration control.

Stereophile reviewed it in February 2020, What Hi-Fi? gave the Planar 10/Apheta 3 five stars across the board, and Hi-Fi World rated it outstanding. Fitted with the Apheta 3 or Aphelion 2 moving coil, it is a complete reference front end; the Aura or Aos MC phono stage finishes the chain. Its one-piece removable cover is kept light, and Rega's Planar 8/10/Naia wall bracket is the ideal mount.
