The story
The Aida stands nearly 5 ft 8 in tall. A 1.1-inch DAD Arrow Point tweeter and a 7.1-inch midrange sit above two 8.7-inch woofers, with a 12.6-inch subwoofer at the base. On the back, the Sound Field Shaper (its own tweeter and two 3.1-inch midrange drivers) adds ambient energy that you can adjust to suit the room. The double-curved "Silent Case" cabinet uses Sonus faber's Stealth Ultraflex venting and sits on ZVT decoupling feet.
Stereophile's Michael Fremer found its sense of a real concert hall unusually convincing, with orchestral recordings that held together spatially. To work this well, the Aida needs a large room, careful placement and a powerful amplifier. Its 92 dB sensitivity helps, but the 4 Ω load and 100 to 1,000 W rating point to serious power. It is built for listeners who want full-range orchestral scale without a separate subwoofer.
Sonus faber lists this model as "Aida"; Pearl's listing calls it Aida II, the current second generation.
