The .7x is the factory X version of the .7. The panel, size and two-way quasi-ribbon layout are unchanged. What changes is the crossover and wiring: copper-rich polypropylene capacitors and Magnepan-wound air-core coils, each tested and sorted so the left and right speakers match, heavier solid-copper wiring with shorter runs, and silver-soldered connections throughout. X versions also offer extra stile finishes.
The .7x needs the same care as the .7: a powerful, high-current amplifier for its 4 Ω load, about 3 feet free behind each panel to start, and toe-in toward the listening seat. Bought new from a certified dealer, it carries Magnepan's 3-year limited warranty.
The stile is the frame trim; Red Aluminum and Black Wood are X-only options. Fabric: Black, Grey, Off White or Cherry White. Photos show the standard .7; the .7x is the same size and shape.
