The 3.7i separates the job into three dedicated sections on one 71-inch panel: a True Ribbon tweeter, a quasi-ribbon midrange and a quasi-ribbon bass section. The True Ribbon is freely suspended aluminum foil with no substrate, and it extends to 40 kHz. Tweeter and midrange levels can be trimmed with supplied 1 Ω resistors, and the tweeter can be set on the inside or outside edge of the pair.
The Absolute Sound's Chris Martens heard a well-balanced, wide-range dipole with a smooth, coherent midrange and large, deep soundstages with real vertical scale. It needs power and room to do that. Plan on a powerful, high-current amplifier, start about 3 feet from the wall behind, and space the panels at 50 to 60 percent of your listening distance. Tweeters inside favor a single listener; tweeters outside give a wider sweet spot.
The stile is the frame trim. Fabric: Black, Grey, Off White or Cherry White. The 3.7x adds Acorn Oak, Bamboo, Red Aluminum and Black Wood stiles.
