The BC350 is Burmester's flagship loudspeaker: a 74-inch, 892-pound three-way with two 32 cm woofers, two AMT tweeters and two separate crossovers that let you choose between a Pure and a Live tuning.

The story
The BC350 was developed to show what Burmester could do without a cost ceiling. Each cabinet is framed by an elaborately milled aluminum structure that stiffens the enclosure in every tonal range, with heavily damped walls and cross braces inside. The cabinet was optimized with finite-element modeling, a method borrowed from aerospace, and verified with accelerometer and laser-vibrometer measurements carried out with the Institute for Fluid Mechanics and Technical Acoustics at the Technical University of Berlin. Every driver and each crossover sits in its own enclosure so that none interferes with another, and the bass reflex tubes are handmade porcelain from KPM Berlin, chosen for their smooth, rigid surfaces.
The driver complement is two 32 cm sandwich-cone woofers with dual-magnet motors, two 22 cm glass-fiber and papyrus midrange drivers, and two Air Motion Transformers, one of them an adjustable rear-facing Ambience tweeter. What sets the BC350 apart is its two fully separate, discrete crossovers. Pure mode uses one set of drivers for a delicate, detailed presentation; Live mode brings in the second set for higher level capability and an acoustically raised stage. Sensitivity is 90 dB in either mode, with 3 Ω nominal impedance and 28 Hz extension in Pure mode and 4 Ω and 38 Hz in Live mode. The body swivels on its base so the speaker can be aimed at the listening position without moving the plinth.
The Absolute Sound found the two modes to be two different loudspeakers in character, a smooth and relaxed one and a larger, more energetic one, and praised the adaptability that the switchable configuration and the swiveling body give the owner. This is a loudspeaker for a large room and for amplifiers with real current; Burmester's own 159 monoblocks and the 259 are the obvious partners, and the Signature Line 111 Musiccenter and 808 MK5 complete the system.
The BC350 is finished in Tineo (Indian apple) veneer or middle-grey silk-matt lacquer, with chrome front panels. It is built to order in Berlin.

The BC350 Loudspeaker is not in our rooms at present. When it is the right piece for a client we arrange a demonstration unit from the manufacturer and set it up for a private session.
