The story
The Valhalla 2 Power Cord consists of seven solid, silver-plated 16 AWG conductors of 99.999999% oxygen-free copper, each suspended in a Dual Mono-Filament matrix inside class 1.1 extruded FEP. Nordost says the separate solid cores eliminate strand interaction, hot spots and carbonization, and the air dielectric lifts the velocity of propagation to 91%, where a conventional power cable is below 50%. DC resistance is 1.33 Ω per 1000 ft and capacitance 8 pF/ft.
Both ends are Nordost's own HOLO:PLUG connectors, gold-plated and built to keep the low source impedance of the mains intact. In a reference system the Valhalla 2 cord is usually the first upgrade on a DAC or preamplifier and then the power amplifiers; reviewers of the Valhalla 2 range for Stereophile, The Absolute Sound and The Audio Beat all included the power cord in the loom they praised.
Choose a straight or 90° HOLO:PLUG US wall plug and a 15 A IEC C15, low-profile C15 or 20 A IEC C19 equipment end in the selector; the 90°, low-profile and 20 A options carry a surcharge. Standard lengths run from 1 m to 6 m, and 32 A powerCON, Walther, figure-8 and 30 A locking connectors are available to order.
