The story
Nordost treats the power cord as the first cable in the signal chain, and the Blue Heaven 3 is its most affordable statement of that view. Three 14 AWG conductors of 105-strand 99.9999% oxygen-free copper are each wrapped in a Micro Mono-Filament spiral inside an extruded FEP jacket, so the conductor rests mostly on air. Nordost quotes a velocity of propagation of 81%, against under 50% for a conventional PVC cord.
The point of the design is to deliver current with as little dielectric effect and propagation delay as possible, and to keep the low source impedance of the mains all the way to the component. In practice it is a clean, quick-sounding cord that suits sources, integrated amplifiers and streaming components.
Choose a straight or 90° US wall plug and a standard, low-profile or 20 A IEC equipment end in the selector; Nordost adds a small charge for the 90° and low-profile options and the 20 A C19. Lengths run from 1 m to 4 m in half-metre steps, and longer cords can be ordered.
