The story
Krane replaced the Majik arm in 2020 and is built around a Linn specification for effective length and offset angle, so it lines up with every Linn cartridge and every LP12 component without adjustment. It is static-balanced and hand-assembled from aluminum and stainless-steel parts. The vertical bearing is polished tungsten on sapphire, the horizontal bearing a dual ceramic assembly; Hi-Fi News measured friction below 10 mg with no perceptible play. A laser-etched scale makes VTA settings repeatable, azimuth is adjustable, the offset angle is fixed, and an adjustable three-point headshell sets the effective length exactly. Anti-skate is a magnetic mechanism on the side of the arm. Connection is a 5-pin DIN for a Linn tonearm cable.
Hi-Fi News measured the arm's effective mass at 10 g, which suits the Adikt moving magnet and Koil moving coil Linn fits to the Majik LP12, and most medium-compliance cartridges. Reviewing the Majik LP12/Krane package, the magazine called the arm and cartridge modest parts that let the Sondek perform, in a deck that "makes music sound natural, unforced, easy and yet expressive and emotional." Linn's page describes the Krane both as supplied with the Majik LP12 and as an upgrade for earlier decks; we confirm availability as a separate arm when you order.
Krane is the first of Linn's three current tonearms, below the Arko of the Selekt LP12 and the Ekos SE of the Klimax. A tonearm cable is not included; the T-Kable in RCA or XLR is the Linn choice.
