The story

Where the P-4600 covers most systems, the P-7500 is for speakers that need more. Each channel has ten parallel push-pull power transistors in a three-stage Darlington configuration, driven in Class AB and arranged as an instrumentation amplifier with balanced inputs, behind a large toroidal transformer and 60,000 µF of filter capacitance. The result is 300 watts into 8 ohms that rises to 600 into 4 and 900 into 2 on music signals, or 1,200 and 1,800 watts in bridged mono. The MCS+ parallel voltage stage, current-feedback topology and balanced remote sensing deliver a damping factor above 1,000 and 130 dB signal-to-noise.

MOS-FET switches with no mechanical contacts handle protection and output switching, a four-position gain selector (28, 25, 22 and 16 dB) matches any preamplifier, and bi-amp and bridged modes are built in. The power meters, edgewise coils and 108-pound chassis are classic Accuphase. In front of it, the C-2300 or C-3900S; it will drive anything in our showroom.

Key technologies

  • Ten-parallel push-pull output stage. Ten pairs of power transistors per channel in Class AB, three-stage Darlington, as an instrumentation amplifier: 300 W into 8 Ω rising to 900 W into 2 Ω.
  • MCS+ and current feedback. A two-parallel voltage-amplification stage lowers the noise floor to 130 dB S/N; current-feedback topology keeps high-frequency phase stable.
  • Balanced remote sensing. Feeds the ground reference at the speaker terminals back to the amplifier, raising the effective damping factor at the speaker rather than at the chassis.
  • Bridged and bi-amp modes. 1,200 W into 8 Ω or 1,800 W into 4 Ω bridged; four-position gain selector.

Finishes

  • Champagne gold anodized aluminum front panel

Accuphase builds every component in a single finish, so there is nothing to choose. The champagne-gold front panel has been the house signature since 1972. The top plate is hairline-finished aluminum.

Where it sits in the range

The most powerful Accuphase stereo amplifier. The P-4600 is the smaller Class AB design; the A-80 and A-300 are pure Class A.

Pair it with the C-2300 or C-3900S. Two P-7500s bridged give 1,200 watts per channel.
