The story
The C-2300 is where Accuphase's separates begin, and it carries the technology that defines them. Balanced AAVA replaces the volume potentiometer with weighted current-to-voltage converters switched in combination, so there is no resistive element in the signal path and the frequency response and impedance never change with level; in this generation it runs about ten percent quieter than the C-2450 it replaced. Left and right channels have their own power supplies and unit amplifiers, signal switching is by logic-controlled relays, and the volume knob turns on an 8 mm solid brass shaft.
Five line inputs, two balanced inputs and an external-preamp input feed two line outputs and one balanced output, with gain switchable between 12, 18 and 24 dB, a four-band tone control, per-input phase memory and a discrete headphone amplifier. The two option slots take the AD-60 moving-magnet / moving-coil phono board, the DAC-60 digital board with USB, coaxial and optical inputs, or a LINE-10 line board, so a single chassis can be preamplifier, phono stage and DAC. Its natural partner is the P-4600.
Accuphase builds every component in a single finish, so there is nothing to choose. The champagne-gold front panel has been the house signature since 1972.
