Accuphase · A Series
The A-300 is Accuphase's fiftieth-anniversary reference: a pure Class A monaural amplifier rated at 125 watts into 8 ohms that doubles to 250, 500 and 1,000 watts into 4, 2 and 1 ohm from twenty parallel push-pull MOS-FETs.
Price is for one monaural amplifier. A stereo system uses two.

The story
Created to mark fifty years of Accuphase, the A-300 is the company's definition of the ideal Class A power amplifier. Twenty parallel push-pull power MOS-FETs run in pure Class A, arranged as an instrumentation amplifier with balanced inputs, behind a large toroidal transformer and 100,000 µF of filter capacitance. Output doubles with each halving of impedance, to 1,000 watts into 1 ohm on music signals, and a pair bridged delivers 500 watts into 8 ohms. Double MCS+ voltage amplification, current feedback and balanced remote sensing produce a damping factor above 1,000 and a signal-to-noise ratio of 130 dB.
Stereophile's Jason Victor Serinus reviewed the A-300 in December 2023, and the magazine named it its 2024 Amplification Component of the Year. Each chassis weighs 101 pounds, idles at 230 watts and carries a bar-graph and digital power meter with adjustable hold. A pair of A-300s with the C-3900S preamplifier and DP-770 player is the Accuphase reference system, and it is what we would build for a listener who wants pure Class A without compromise on speaker choice.
Accuphase builds every component in a single finish, so there is nothing to choose. The champagne-gold front panel has been the house signature since 1972.
