Nordost · Sort Systems
Nordost's cable support: an anodized aluminum base carrying a patent-pending floating spring system of FEP-coated titanium alloy, which lifts speaker cables, power cords and interconnects off the floor with minimal contact and without loading the cable's own resonance.
Price is for a pack of two. Space them 0.5 to 1 m apart along the cable; most speaker cable runs use two or three packs.

The story
Cables lying on a floor pick up static on their dielectric and are affected by the boundary beneath them. The Sort Lift addresses both. Its base is an anodized aluminum disk that inhibits the transfer of charge from the floor and discharges static build-up on the cable jacket. On it sits the Floating Spring System: support wings and tension wires of flexible titanium alloy, coated in FEP like a Nordost cable so the support behaves as an extension of the jacket rather than a clamp.
The result Nordost describes, and Kirk Midtskog of The Absolute Sound confirmed, is a lower background noise, more upper-frequency information, crisper transients and a more natural timbre, with the soundstage lifting and low-frequency detail improving. Alan Sircom of hi-fi+ found that removing the complete Sort set from a system made the soundstage fold in on itself.
Sort Lifts come in packs of two and are meant to be spaced between half a meter and a meter apart so that the cable never touches the floor; heavier, stiffer cables need closer spacing. They were designed for Nordost's flat cables but suit any speaker cable, power cord or interconnect.
