The S4-3 is the wide Solidsteel: 43.8-inch shelves on six damped aluminium pillars, three levels, each tested to 308 pounds, for two components side by side or one very heavy one.

The story
The S4 uses the S2 shelf material and the S3's damped pillars, then doubles the width. Each 43.8 by 16.9-inch shelf is carried on six threaded aluminium pillars filled with damping material, which is why a 0.86-inch MDF shelf can be rated to 308 pounds. The two 19.7-inch inner bays take a pair of full-width components on each level, or a wide amplifier that no standard rack will accept.
At 26.3 inches the S4-3 is low enough to sit under a wall-mounted television or beside a listening seat, with a turntable on top and amplifier and source side by side below. Six-pole kits in 5.7, 9.6 and 12.8 inches and extra inner shelves let the spacing be tuned to the gear.
The S4 series is stocked in black. White is available from the factory to special order.
