The story

The SA-C600 is the whole of a Technics system except the loudspeakers, in a chassis 340 mm wide. The amplifier is the JENO Engine, the full-digital design used across the range, processing every source as digital data and switching the output stage directly into the speakers, rated at 60 W per channel into 4 Ω. It has a twin power supply with a dedicated transformer and circuit for the amplifier section, and a clean-powered clock generator that borrows the noise suppression of the SL-1000R turntable's power supply.

Sources are the point. A slot-free top-loading CD drive plays CD and CD-R/RW; an FM tuner is built in; streaming covers Chromecast built-in, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Deezer and internet radio over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, with Bluetooth for guests; and files play from USB or the network at up to 32-bit/384 kHz and 11.2 MHz DSD, with MQA decoding. A USB-B input takes a computer at 24-bit/192 kHz. The MM phono input has its own shielded power supply, so an SL-1500C plugs straight in; there are line, optical and coaxial inputs, a subwoofer output and a headphone jack.

Space Tune adjusts the sound for placement, with presets for free-standing, against a wall, in a corner or on a shelf, and custom left-right settings through the Technics Audio Center app (iOS). What Hi-Fi? reviewed the SA-C600 in October 2022, found it "sounds surprisingly musical" with "a smooth and refined presentation", and has kept it as an Awards winner through 2026.

The SA-C600 is the one-box answer for a second room, an office or a first system, and the obvious partner for the SL-1500C. For separates, the SU-G700M2 and SL-G700M2 are the step up.
