The story
The NAP 250 name has been on a Naim amplifier since 1975. The New Classic version is a wholesale redesign: the output stage uses matched pairs of the NA009 transistors developed for Naim's Statement amplifier, the power supply uses Naim's DR discrete regulators, and the two balanced XLR inputs are true differential. Thick aluminium plates wrap the electronics against magnetic fields, heat and vibration, and the heat sink is designed to keep the amplifier cool at high level. An eddy-current separator and the familiar Naim chassis complete it. An optical system-automation cable to the NSC 222 is included, along with two XLR interconnects.
The NSC 222 and NAP 250 is the Naim system we demonstrate most often, with Bowers & Wilkins 803 D4. The 250's grip and rhythmic drive suit speakers from Harbeth to B&W 800 Series in medium rooms; for larger rooms or harder loads, the NAP 350 monoblocks are the next step.
Naim New Classic components are made in one finish, black anodised aluminium, with adjustable logo brightness.
