The story
Speed stability starts with the power feeding the motor. The Majik LP12 power supply fits entirely inside the plinth and gives the synchronous AC motor consistent, low-noise power, filtering mains noise that would otherwise show up as motor judder and pitch wander. It runs the deck at a fixed 33⅓ rpm; singles are played with the optional 45 rpm adaptor on the motor pulley. Linn fits it to the Majik LP12 and sells it separately as a replacement for the Basik and Valhalla supplies of older decks. The motor is not included.
On Linn's upgrade path the Majik supply is the base; the Lingo adds digital speed management and a switched 45 rpm, and the Radikal replaces the AC motor altogether. For an older LP12 that still runs its original supply, this is the least expensive way to current specification.
