The story

The INT-250 is the INT-60's larger sibling, with a bigger complement of higher-power MOSFETs and a supply to match: 250 W per channel into 8 Ω, 500 W into 4 Ω, a damping factor of 150 and a 9.1-inch-tall heatsink chassis. The preamplifier section is the same simplified design, with an electronic volume control of 63 dB in 1 dB steps read from an optical encoder, selectable gain of 30 or 36 dB, four inputs (two XLR/RCA, two RCA) and preamplifier outputs. The toroidal transformer is electrostatically and Mu-metal shielded, vacuum impregnated and epoxy filled, and the digital control circuits run from a supply isolated from the analog section.

The Absolute Sound's Neil Gader called the INT-250 a thoroughly modern amplifier with effortless dynamics at the micro and macro levels and a soundstage as expansive as he had heard from solid state, and attributed its lush, warm midrange to the balance of Class A bias and Class AB output; the magazine named it Integrated Amplifier of the Year for 2016 and listed it as an Editors' Choice through 2022 and in its 2023 Buyer's Guide. Future Audiophile nominated it for Best Integrated in 2024.

The INT-250 is the Pass Labs integrated for loudspeakers that need current: large floorstanders, low-sensitivity monitors and panels in big rooms. The INT-60 is the alternative when the Class A envelope matters more than power, and the XP-17 or XP-27 add a phono stage.

Key technologies

  • .8 series output stage. A larger complement of higher-power MOSFETs than the INT-60, rated at 250 W into 8 Ω and 500 W into 4 Ω.
  • Class AB with Class A bias. High bias handles low-level listening in Class A before the output stage moves into AB.
  • Shielded toroidal supply. Electrostatic and Mu-metal shielding, vacuum impregnation and epoxy fill, with extra filtering.
  • Isolated control. A microcontroller reads an optical encoder; digital circuits run from a separate supply and never touch the audio.
  • Selectable gain. 30 or 36 dB, with four inputs (two XLR/RCA, two RCA) and preamplifier outputs.

Finishes

  • Silver anodized aluminum, standard
  • Black anodized aluminum, factory option

Silver is the standard finish shown. Black is available to order at additional cost; ask us for a quote.
