The story

Cardas 9.5 AWG Jumpers are 6 in (15.2 cm) bi-wire jumpers made from Cardas's heavy 9.5 AWG Grade 1 copper Litz conductor, with Golden Ratio stranding, cross-field layer geometry and a PTFE jacket.

They are hand soldered to Cardas CGMS spades or CABD bananas in Bandon, Oregon, and sold in sets of four, enough for one pair of speakers. They suit Clear Cygnus, Clear Reflection and other heavy-gauge speaker cables run single-wire.

Measure centre to centre between the bass and treble terminals of one speaker and check the jumper length covers it with a little slack. Spades suit posts you can torque down; bananas drop into the free hole of a post already carrying a spade. Mixed spade-to-banana sets are the usual choice. Already bi-wiring with two runs of cable, or using an internal bi-wire cable? You do not need jumpers.

Key technologies

  • Ultra Pure Cardas Copper. Grade 1, 99.9999% pure oxygen-free copper, drawn and annealed slowly through silver dies, then given a single poly-nylon coat to prevent oxidation and crosstalk between strands.
  • Golden Ratio scaled Litz conductors. Multi-stranded conductors in which each layer of strands steps up in size by 1:1.618 from the centre outward, a Cardas patent that controls strand resonance.
  • Cross-field layer geometry. The strand layers are wound in alternating directions, as in all Cardas Litz conductors, under a PTFE jacket.
  • Quad Eutectic solder. Hand soldered to CGMS spades or CABD bananas with Cardas Quad Eutectic solder.
  • Made in Bandon, Oregon. Every Cardas cable is built and hand terminated at the Cardas factory on the southern Oregon coast and carries the Cardas lifetime cable warranty.
