The story
The Px7 S3 is a ground-up rework rather than a refresh. Bowers & Wilkins redesigned the 40 mm bio-cellulose drive unit with a new chassis, voice coil, suspension and magnet, and for the first time in the Px7 line gave each channel its own discrete headphone amplifier fed by a dedicated DAC. The result is a cleaner, more dynamic presentation that borrows a good deal of what makes the flagship Px8 S2 special, at a markedly lower price.
Noise cancellation moves to an eight-microphone array, four per earcup, with the ADI Pure Voice algorithm for calls, and the earcups and headband are slimmer and lighter than the S2e they replace. Bluetooth 5.3 with aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, AAC and SBC covers every phone, USB-C carries digital audio as well as charging, and the Bowers & Wilkins Music app provides a five-band EQ, TrueSound mode and direct streaming. Thirty hours of playback with ANC on makes it an easy long-haul companion.
Five finishes with synthetic leather earpads and a slimmer headband. Memory-foam cushions throughout.
