The story
The Pi8 takes the carbon-cone driver technology from the Px8 over-ear headphones and shrinks it to a 12 mm unit in each earbud, backed by a dedicated DSP with its own amplifier and DAC. Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Lossless lets a compatible phone stream lossless CD-quality audio, and the tuning is unmistakably Bowers & Wilkins: full-bodied, detailed and spacious for an in-ear.
Noise cancellation uses three microphones per earbud, and the charging case does something unusual: plug its USB-C or 3.5 mm input into a laptop, an in-flight entertainment system or a DAP and it retransmits the audio to the earbuds over aptX Adaptive. Six and a half hours of playback with ANC on, another thirteen and a half from the case, wireless charging, IP54 protection and Apple MFi support complete a very capable travel package.
