The 888 is MOON's statement: an 888-watt monaural power amplifier machined from a solid block of aluminum, with cast monolithic heat sinks, no global feedback and 350,000 µF of energy storage.

The story
The 888 is the amplifier MOON built to show what the company can do without compromise. Its chassis is machined from a single block of aluminum, and the audio circuitry is mounted directly into one-piece cast aluminum heat sinks, machined to within a thousandth of an inch, so the structure itself damps vibration and carries heat away passively. The output stage is rated at 8 kW of transistor capacity for 888 watts of delivered power, fed by oversized transformers and more than 350,000 µF of capacitance; the MDCA circuit corrects distortion without a global feedback loop. Rhodium-plated speaker terminals, balanced and single-ended inputs and switchable DC or AC coupling complete it. Each 888 is hand-assembled and tested in Quebec.
The 888 is for the largest rooms and the most demanding loudspeakers, where a pair will drive any load without strain. MOON's 850P preamplifier or 891 network player / preamplifier is the natural partner. Because of its weight and the installation involved, we deliver and set up every 888 ourselves.
