The story

The 260D is built around a proprietary CD drive mounted on MOON's M-Quattro suspension, four gel points that isolate the mechanism from vibration. As the 260DT it is a pure transport with AES/EBU and S/PDIF outputs for an external DAC, including MQA-CD pass-through to an MQA-capable converter. As the 260D it adds a true 32-bit asynchronous DAC with upsampling, MOON's oversized power supplies and analog output stage, and three digital inputs (two S/PDIF, one optical) so it also serves as the system's DAC. The DAC board can be added to a 260DT later.

The 260D suits anyone with a CD collection and a MOON integrated such as the 250i v2 or 341, where SimLink lets the amplifier and transport switch on together. With the 371 or 491, which already have DACs, the 260DT is the sensible choice.

Key technologies

  • M-Quattro suspension. Proprietary CD drive on a four-point gel-based floating suspension.
  • Optional 32-bit DAC. True 32-bit asynchronous converter with upsampling; can be added to a 260DT later.
  • Digital connectivity. AES/EBU and S/PDIF outputs; the 260D adds two S/PDIF and one optical input.
  • MQA-CD pass-through. MQA-encoded CDs are passed to an external MQA-certified DAC for decoding.

Finishes

  • Black black anodized aluminum
  • Silver silver anodized aluminum
  • 2-Tone black chassis with silver cheeks

Black, Silver and 2-Tone are MOON's standard finishes and carry the same price. Choose your version and finish under Options and pricing above.
