Accuphase · DP Series
The DP-770 is Accuphase's top single-box SA-CD/CD player: a machined-aluminum transport, eight parallel ES9028PRO converter channels in MDSD and MDS++ configuration, ANCC, and USB, HS-Link, coaxial and optical inputs that make it the DAC for a whole system.

The story
The DP-770 is Accuphase's highest-performing combined player. The SA-CD/CD drive is a 15-pound machined-aluminum mechanism on a 7.5-pound bottom plate, spun by an outer-rotor brushless DC motor and isolated on elastic dampers of two hardnesses, so the disc is read cleanly before any correction is needed. Conversion uses eight parallel channels of an ES9028PRO in Accuphase's MDSD configuration for DSD and MDS++ for PCM, which averages out converter error, with ANCC cancelling the residual noise and distortion of the current-to-voltage stage. The result is 0.0004% distortion and 121 dB signal-to-noise.
As a DAC it accepts USB (PCM to 384 kHz/32-bit, DSD to 11.2 MHz), HS-Link version 2 from an Accuphase transport, coaxial and optical, and its transport outputs feed an external processor or a DG-series voicing equalizer. Balanced and line outputs at 2.5 volts have separate Direct Balanced Filter paths, with a digital level control in 1 dB steps and a polarity selector. Few players this complete are built this well; for a system that has moved past the CD player as an afterthought, the DP-770 is the one.
Accuphase builds every component in a single finish, so there is nothing to choose. The champagne-gold front panel has been the house signature since 1972.

The top single-box player. The DP-570S is the smaller design with a four-channel MDS+ converter; above the DP-770, Accuphase splits transport and processor into the DP-1000 and DC-1000 (ask us).
The DP-770 pairs naturally with the C-3900S or E-800S, and its digital inputs mean a streamer or server can share its converter.
