The story
Most noise-cancelling headphones are a phone accessory first. T+A built the Solitaire T the other way round, as a serious closed-back headphone from Herford that happens to carry Bluetooth, ANC and a battery. The 42 mm dynamic driver uses a cellulose diaphragm with edge damping and a low-bass system tuned for transient speed, the housings are pearl-blasted anodized aluminum machined from solid, and the pads are anti-allergenic synthetic leather on rotating, folding ear caps.
There are three ways to listen. Over Bluetooth 5.1 (Qualcomm QCC 5127) with aptX HD, AAC and SBC, the on-board ESS Sabre ES9218 DAC and hybrid ANC do the work, for up to 70 hours, or 35 in the High Quality mode. Over USB-C the Solitaire T takes an uncompressed digital stream from a computer or phone. And in passive analog mode, via Pentaconn 4.4 mm balanced, 3.5 mm or 6.3 mm, it needs no power at all and behaves as a conventional 64-ohm headphone, which makes it a natural partner for the T+A HA 200 or any good headphone amplifier.
