A moving coil phono stage that lives inside your LP12, inches from the tonearm, for a shorter, quieter signal path into an analog preamplifier.
Urika mounts inside the Sondek LP12 plinth on its own integrated Trampolin base board, which isolates it from vibration. Because it sits so close to the arm, the tonearm cable run is as short as it can be, which means less noise pickup and less signal loss before the music is amplified. The circuit is dual mono to keep the channels separate. It is powered and controlled by Linn's Radikal, which also drives the LP12's DC motor, so a Radikal is required. You get direct-coupled RCA and transformer-coupled XLR outputs, so it can feed any analog preamplifier.
Urika is designed for low-output moving coil cartridges. Its fixed 62.5 dB of gain and 75 Ω input load suit Linn's own moving coils and many other low-output MCs. It is not adjustable and does not take moving magnet cartridges. It is the analog-output choice in Linn's top LP12 builds. Stereophile reviewed a Klimax LP12 with Urika and Radikal and found the deck focused, rhythmic and highly resolving. If you use a Linn DS or DSM player with Exakt, look at Urika II instead.
