The P3ESR follows the BBC's classic mini-monitor tradition. It uses Harbeth's own 110 mm RADIAL4 bass/mid driver, the latest generation of the cone material Harbeth develops and makes in-house, with a 19 mm ferrofluid-cooled tweeter. The XD2 update brings RADIAL4 and a newly refined crossover to the familiar small cabinet.

Reviewers of the earlier P3ESR XD describe a warm, inviting sound with beautifully defined, rather than room-shaking, bass and very convincing instrument timbre. At 83 dB sensitivity and a 6 Ω load it is easy to drive, but it wants clean power: Harbeth suggests 15 W per channel or more. Put it on rigid stands with the tweeters at ear height and at least 0.3 m (12 in) from the wall behind. It is ideal for small rooms, desks and near-field listening.
