One of the best high-output moving coils made: the Microline stylus, Delrin body and cryogenic treatment of Hana's M Series with 2 mV of output for a moving magnet phono input.
The M Series is Hana's deluxe line, and it brings four upgrades over the S Series. The stylus is a nude Microline tip that mimics the cutting stylus and sits more precisely in the groove. The body is injection-molded Delrin (POM) with an integral machined brass cap for constrained-layer damping and threaded mounting fittings; the cap takes the weight to 9.5 g for better coupling to a wider range of arms. The pure-iron magnetic circuit, including the front yoke and center and rear parts, is cryogenically treated for a more linear magnetic field, and the coils are wound with high-purity copper wire. The magnet is Alnico, the cantilever aluminum. The MH keeps a 130 Ω coil and 2 mV output, so Hana's suggested load is the standard 47 kΩ of an MM input.
Paul Rigby in Hi-Fi+ called the MH every inch a high-end super cartridge without the high price, and Stereo in Germany noted that it is one of very few serious high-output MCs at this level. The MH is the right choice when you want M Series resolution but your phono stage only has an MM input, or when you prefer to avoid the noise and loading questions of a low-output MC. It works with the built-in phono stage of most quality integrated amplifiers and with any MM outboard stage. At 9.5 g with 10 × 10⁻⁶ cm/dyne compliance it is a medium-compliance cartridge for medium-mass tonearms, and the threaded body makes mounting simple. A Microline stylus needs accurate alignment and an arm with adjustable height to give its best; we are glad to set it up for you.
