Hana's entry-level high-output moving coil: a 2 mV design that plugs straight into a moving magnet phono input and is the natural first step up from the cartridge that came with your turntable.
The EH is hand-built by Excel Sound in Japan and shares its moss-green body and 5 g weight with the low-output EL. Inside is Hana's cross-coil generator, which Hana credits for the cartridge's bass and dynamics, driving a synthetic elliptical stylus on a rigid aluminum cantilever. Output is 2 mV at 1 kHz with an internal impedance of 130 Ω, so it is designed to run into a standard 47 kΩ moving magnet input without a step-up transformer or a dedicated MC stage. Hana rates the EH for 2 g tracking force and 70 µm trackability at that weight, and backs it with a two-year warranty.
Reviewers describe the EH as smooth and easy-going, and L.L. Vinyl called it an audiophile bargain and a great introduction to MC reproduction. Because it works on an MM input, it is the Hana to choose for an integrated amplifier or receiver with a built-in phono stage, or for an entry-level outboard MM phono preamp. The 5 g body and aluminum cantilever make it a comfortable match for the light and medium-mass tonearms found on most modern turntables. Hana does not publish a compliance figure for the E Series; in practice the EH behaves like a medium-compliance cartridge. If your phono stage has a proper MC input with 60 dB or more of gain, the lower-output EL is the better buy at the same price.
