A wood-bodied Clearaudio moving coil with 24-karat gold coils and a boron cantilever, for listeners stepping into Clearaudio's serious MC range.
The Concerto V2.1 is built around Clearaudio's patented magnet system and coils wound from 24-karat gold wire. The body is satin-finished Satiné wood with a metal inlay. Clearaudio shapes it to make the most of the space inside for the generator. A boron cantilever carries a Clearaudio Prime Line diamond, a fine line-contact profile. At 7 g, the whole cartridge is light.
The Concerto is a medium-compliance, low-output moving coil. It needs an MC phono stage with around 60 dB of gain or a step-up transformer, and its 50 Ω internal impedance gives you a wide range of loading to experiment with. Like other Clearaudio moving coils, it is set up at a relatively high 2.8 g. It suits a rigid medium-mass tonearm with easy VTA adjustment, which helps you get the most from the line-contact stylus. Above it in the range sit the Stradivari V2.1 (ebony) and the Jubilee MC (Panzerholz).
